40s flair

dress, fur coat & clutch: vintage, shoes: Frye, necklaces: c/o Jewelmint, vintage, liptick: Nars Funny Face

While rummaging through my closet on Sunday (see previous post) I unearthed this gem of a nod-to-40s style chair print dress that I actually bought at a vintage store about 3 years ago. I haven’t worn it in ages but after trying it on again, I decided that it’s definitely going back in rotation. Look at that on-trend witty conversation print and adorable long sleeve, flippy skirt silhouette. I’m so ahead of my time…

In other news….I am headed home to Seattle tonight for an extended Thanksgiving break, yay! On the agenda: getting my hair did (my grown out ombre need some help), going to the spa with mom, hanging around in my PJs catching up on my magazine reading and knitting, and of course, plenty of cooking and eating. What are your plans for the Holiday weekend? Anyone partaking in some Black Friday shopping?

feeling for: rugged chic

This post is partially inspired by my ‘Fall escape’ photo story from earlier this week. ‘Rugged Chic’? I’m loving it, can’t get enough. It’s the Seattle in me? Or perhaps its the aura of permanence and durability in this faction of fashion that and in some ways suggests  ‘anti fashion’ – which I sort of like (and so does Ralph). Or, it’s just everywhere and it’s good.

Inspiration/Interpretation? see my ‘Buffalo Plaid’ outfit post from last year, Pendleton’s new, hip Portland Collection (sold at Anthropologie, Shopbop & Revolve) – this here is the unisex ‘Harding’ Cardigan  and the Herschel Supply Co. Fall lookbook. I’m also digging on the interiors of Unionmade’s new store in the Marin Country Mart.

Happy Friday everyone! I’ll be cozying up in my giant intarsia cardigan and flannel all weekend, will you?

I’m finding all kinds of new ways to wear my favorite Summer maxi skirts (this one I wore in NYC with a tank in 90 degree heat- seen here) as we head into winter. Can you believe how dark it is getting so early? When taking these pictures my photographer and I literally experienced the sun setting on us in a span of 20 minutes in what seemed like the afternoon. Winter, she comes…even in California.

70s romance

This post is actually a sneak peek of a recent project I was apart of with Sears. Believe it or not, this is me making kute with the Kardashian Kollection for Sears.  I chose to bypass the Khloe-style leopard jumpsuits for something a little more Kourtney, an little more 70s romance. A little lace, a little satin, a little faux fur. Pretty cute, right? More about this project to come! Happy Monday! xx

fashion icon: joanna hillman

Dress: Dex Sweater dress, Rayban Wayfarers, TopShop Bug Collar necklace, Hillman’s signature lip color MAC’s Lady Danger, Meredith Wendell calf hair and leather messenger bag, Michael Kors navy velvet sandals

I can’t get enough of this picture, this outfit, this look, this girl, her style. Joanna Hillman (Harper’s Bazaar’s Sr Fashion Market Director) is killing it here: the mixing of the navy & black, the sportiness of the sunglasses and the messenger bag strap in contrast to the chic dress and shoes, the messy chic side pony/bun, the overall simplicity. Fashion Icon is right. Noted it’s a little late in the season for the bare legs and sandals look, however I think I can get away with it in balmy California. I’ll be channeling this very soon.
