Fashion Week Australia Street Style

I realize I am about a week posting this, but while spending some quality time perusing the world wide web with a glass of wine last night, I somehow ended up deep into Australian Fashion Week street style snaps and just couldn’t get enough. I found myself being more inspired by these gals than I have been in a long time. There is something about the relaxed Sydney beach culture mixed with a love of high fashion that makes for my pretty much holy grail of street style. The FWA look is undone (beachy hair!) a little bit sporty, and mismatched, like everyone rifled through their closets to come up with their new favorite combo. And personally, that’s how I like to dress. It all just really did it for me. These are my top inspirational photos and the lessons I learned from these looks.

Did you notice how amazing everyone’s accessories are? And did you notice all of the shades of aqua and turquoise peppered into these photos?! I’m so on that.

I spent Cinco de Mayo with friends at the beautiful Cooper family Monkey Ranch in Petaluma, CA (see our Fall trip here). We picked our food for dinner (little gems and fava beans!), explored the grounds (someday I want my own airstream, how country romantic), listened to some music in the Sunset Barn (the Easy Leaves), made margaritas and watched the ‘Super Moon’ rise into the night sky. A really lovely Saturday. Hope you all had great weekends, and now look at us, into the next week….

an L.A. dream (part 1)

Some snapshots from my weekend in L.A. for the Lucky Fabb conference! A floral crown and dyed pink hair tips were my look for the weekend. I made the floral crown specifically for the trip, inspired partly by miss Lana Del Rey and an extension of my signature flower headband look from 2 years ago. It seemed just so perfect for a spring fashion weekend spent in bohemian L.A. I so love any kind of hair accessory (remember these?). I dyed my hair (washes out) with this – it works better on true blond hair but I liked the subtle, pastel effect I got with my blondish balayaged tips.

Fun for the weekend included Saturday pool and beach time with gal pals Krystal and Natalie, a Sunday blogger brunch (aren’t we all so cute?!) at the Viceroy where we stayed, dinner at the awesomely delicious ‘pop up’ restaurant Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing on Abbot Kinney in Venice (where we sat next to the insanely good-looking Ian Somerhalder which was exciting to me only because I am a huge Lost fan), playing L.A. dress-up for a cocktail party at the Kelly Wearstler boutique on Melrose, and a trip complete with outfit pics to Opening Ceremony. More pictures from the actual conference coming tomorrow and I promise I don’t wear another maxi dress, ha. The floral crown, however, does make a repeat appearance.

Just a little scarf print comin at ya – how pretty is this Zara top in shades of blue? It actually reminds me of classic china. I love it and have been wearing it a ton lately with all sorts of different things- dressing it up and down. I love a good top that can do double duty.

As I am posting this I’m running off to catch a plane to L.A. for the weekend! I’m attending Lucky Magazine’s blogger conference on Monday in Santa Monica and will be spending the weekend galavanting around L.A. with partners in crime Krystal and Natalie and I am sure a few more blogger friends. I admittedly have been listening to the ‘Midnight in Paris’ soundtrack a lot lately. On top of that there is the new Parisian Joseph Altuzarra for J. Crew collection inspired by “Brigitte Bardot in Saint-Tropez and French preppy style” and all of a sudden I’ve got seriously bad Francophilia. Like please, take me away to Paris! All I can think about is sneaking away for a jaunt through France wearing this outfit. I’ve become a little obsessed with this stripe dress and how cute is this Marc bag? Black and white stripes and a pop of color. In France. A girl can dream…

We here in SF enjoyed some insanely gorgeous weather this past weekend – we are talking 80+ degrees in the city. It was so nice to get some sun on my skin and hang out outside. It all made me so look forward to true summer. A little recap of what I was up to:
