what i wore

hey there valentine

Fact: I love Valentine’s Day. Call me cheesy but I’m the girl who makes the Valentines every year and shows up to school/work in a pink & red heart themed ensemble. I can’t help it, I love it. My sheer love and joy  for the holiday stems from my childhood when my Mumsy alway used to make Valentine’s Day super special, and she still does, to this day. Also, my birthday is a week after the day (yep, next week I’ll be turning 26), and thus I had many heart-themed birthday parties and happy heart memories growing up. I think Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be overlooked as it is always important to tell the ones you love how you feel about them. It is also the best excuse to wear pink and red and celebrate with chocolate and rosé. Love and hearts to all of you. Happy Valentine’s Day once again!

“I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little – if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.”   - the one and only, Coco Chanel

It was a beautiful weekend here in SF – 60 degrees!  I could smell the Springtime. And thinking about springtime makes me want to wears flowers.

I inherited this darling light yellow vintage beaded sweater from my grandmother, Roberta. Wearing it always makes me think of her and also makes me feel a little bit like Reese Witherspoon’s character in Pleasantville. I paired it with a tutu skirt I recently picked up off the clearance rack at Target. It’s actually a real skirt! Apparently I was a little ahead of my time when I wore this costume petticoat thing here.

The purse is vintage coach that I got off ebay. I tend to like carrying around giant totes, but whenever I want to lighten my load, especially on the weekend, I reach for this little lady. I think she’s pretty.

I have had this vintage rose printed scarf for years – it is actually one of my favorite vintage finds. I pull it out every so often to just throw around my neck to perk up and add interest to an otherwise simple and easy outfit. It has a way of making a look and wearing it always seems to brighten my day a little bit. ♥
