I hope you’re all having lovely Christmases! I am happy to report I was able to hop skip and a jump back to the Northwest (Canada to be exact) to be with my family in the blissful winter wonderland of Whistler for the week. I’m in the land of much needed serious R&R after this crazy last month I’ve had. Plus, tearing up the slopes on my snowboard in the fresh mountain air on the daily. Does a girl good. I hope you are all enjoying the holidays with your dear kin!
Much love and Happy Holidays to you all, from me xx
Isn’t this winter wonderland pretty? I’m a lucky girl!
When my friends asked me what kind of goodbye party I wanted to have to say sayonara to SF all I could think that I really wanted to do was…. hop in a limo and spend an entire final day wine tasting in Napa with my girlfriends. Because it was that or me spending my last Saturday packing up all my shit by myself, which sounded lame. And who doesn’t love Napa? or wine tasting? or limos with your girlfriends for that matter? All my best memories have happened in a limo! That’s a lie, but you get my point. So on one of the rainiest days Northern California had yet seen (they’re such good sports, these ones), we took to Healdsburg and had a grand time.

Just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the outpouring of support of my big life change! I loved all of your comments and emails – it meant a lot to know you all approved of this crazy thing I decided to do, and that I was even inspirational to some of you. Believe me when I tell you, if I can do this, anyone can. xx, Tara
Sometimes, to take a break from the real serious business I do at my job, I like to create fun mood/trend boards for inspiration, putting to good use all of those magazines I have lying around. I love that my job is such a mix of left brain/right brain – just like me. Creative, but good at math.
Here are a few of my latest…
“Ultimately, fashion is all about gut anyway — there’s no science to what this should look like or that should look like or how many times you can redraw that or resketch that or redo that catalogue cover. The fact of the matter is, either it grabs you or it doesn’t.”
On Saturday night I dressed up for a friend’s party as Lana Del Rey in her SNL dress, talon nails and all. Tonight, I’m dressing up again and thinking of going as Blair Waldorf circa season 1, which is now, of course, a vintage look. I love dressing up and getting into character for Halloween. Check out my past costumes documented on this blog: Wednesday Addams and a mermaid. I basically just like to dress up in characters where I can wear fun makeup! All in good fun.
Hope you all have fun Halloweens! xx

When I find myself drifting through the week, mindlessly and apathetically going through the motions of the day to day grind, I find that what I really need to snap out of it is a good dose of creative inspiration. It’s funny because after I realize this is what I need and hunt and gather in my environment, I always find that inspiration really is everywhere, if you keep a lookout for it. So here it is, what is currently inspiring me through the end of this month…
Metric’s new album ‘Synthetica’ …. new Frye Sylvia Piped booties just arrived! Just in time for tights season … the movie is getting mixed reviews, but my best friend loved the book ‘Cloud Atlas’, so it’s now on my ereader… after an extensive search, finally found the perfect shade of Oxblood nail polish, no idea why it was so elusive … Cat Power’s new album ‘Sun’ is also currently on heavy rotation, especially the killer track ‘Manhattan’ … the new Free People November catalog featuring all kinds of ‘Harvest Moon’ Autumnal Gypsy looks (see it all here) has me all excited for layering and lush velvet … caught my favorite Halloweeny movie on TV, Practical Magic, I love the styling and color story in the movie, and that magical all white witchy house…
Happy almost Halloween!
